ASPIRA Haugan Middle School offers students a modern and welcoming environment that focuses on community and academic excellence. Haugan teachers come from diverse cultural backgrounds, allowing students to benefit from their diverse set of worldviews.
From intervention and enrichment programs before and after school hours, summer extension programs, athletics, community nights and the annual 8th Grade trip to Washington, D.C., faculty and staff invest in students’ success. Through these efforts, students leave Haugan with a well rounded experience and the tools to succeed in high school (including the top selective-enrollment schools), college, and career.
Teachers are preparing students for the 21st century world. Through Cross-Curricular initiatives, teacher are facilitating project based learning with real-world connections. Technology is integrated throughout the curriculum as a tool to support and personalize learning. Teachers meet the academic needs of their students utilizing constructivist practices to build individual student needs while engaging them in learning.
School wide curricula empowers students to meet their goals within the Common Core Standards, Next Generation Science Standards, College, Career, and Civics Framework for Social Studies State Standards, WIDA Standards, Technology Standards, and the Arts Standards. In addition to the academic content, Teen Leadership classes ensure students are cultivated with the skills they need to be leaders of tomorrow.
